MacBook or MacBook Pro?

Decisions, decisions! Should I buy a smaller, cheaper MacBook or a 15″ MacBook Pro with its larger screen? (I don’t like 17″ laptops, they’re just too big)
Since I’ve written down the question, the answer is obvious — it depends on what I want to use it for! (unsurprisingly this is echoed by others). Space is probably only an issue on an airplane, and I don’t spend that much time travelling, so I’d be better off with the larger screen and faster processor.

I also noticed today that Apple have an educational discount that might come in handy.

I’ve just had a dreadful thought — Maybe I should be asking myself if I need a new laptop at all.

Even better, get ETA to buy it for you 😉

I am really glad I got the 15″ MacBook Pro rather than a MacBook. It is a fantastically capable laptop. They have also updated them with the Core 2 Duo chips and are a bit faster, cooler and better battery life.

If you want to borrow it for a few evenings just ask (well, when I get back in January that is. Can’t go trekking through the desert without a laptop you know.)

Thanks for the offer. Thought about trying the work angle, the price is certainly right, but there may be other costs associated with it (what software gets installed on it, would it have to go to demos without me, who has access to my personal info on it, etc.). Still worth considering. I’m looking at some other possibilities also including the educational discount.
